What is Hero’s Hangout?
Hero's Hangout was created in 2017 by Founder Derrick Love-Jones. Mr. Love-Jones, a service-disabled Veteran, that envisioned a community-based Resource & Recreational Center dedicated to serving Veterans. Hero's Hangout is committed to providing Veterans with educational resources in health, technology, workforce development, and a place to just “hangout” with other Veterans. Hero's Hangout, is the first of many Resource and Recreational Centers that, will provide Veteran's with a place that they can call their own; a place to get information for disability benefits; a place to learn new and existing technology; a place to find resources and discuss readjustment, empower them to do better, be better, and live a better life.
At Hero's Hangout we are devoted to serving our Veterans, giving them a place where they can obtain resources to help with self-management skills, business development, job training skills, MyHealthevet Training, shoot pool, watch tv, or just have a cup of coffee with other Veterans, all in the comfort of a facility designed specifically for Veterans.
Services are provided at no cost to each and every Veteran who passes through our doors.
Health education is an important factor in the lives of Veterans who have served their country. Continual assistance and education are needed to maintain a gratifying quality of life. At Hero's Hangout we provide informative assistance with myhealthevet.va.gov, workshops, lectures, peer counseling, and basic knowledge on maintaining optimum health for their lives.
The workforce development program involves entrepreneurial projects that can enhance the Veterans quality of life from learning a new skill set, creating a business, or developing a new product or concept that can generate income. In addition, Hero's Hangout supports Veteran Owned Businesses, and connects them with Veterans who are searching for new career opportunities.
In a world filled with technology, Hero's Hangout provides a Technology Program that will educate, as well as supply Veterans with the necessary resources to gain access to computers for their educational and vocational needs.
Community Economic Development
Hero's Hangout is dedicated to empowering and improving the community through the development of affordable and permanent housing for Homeless Veterans and their families.
